Love, Peace & Spades:

A Rather Fly Game Night

We are extremely excited to be featured at the Dec. 6th TEDxInglewood Salon: A Rather Fly Business Spotlight in the Crenshaw District.

We’ll be introducing our play-centered, culturally rich approach to intergenerational communion — rooted in #BlackFamilyHeirloom games like Spades, Bid Whist, Tunk/Tonk, and Dominoes — while sharing how our work extends beyond game nights to support connection, community, and small business growth throughout Los Angeles.

#AllPlayersWelcome to RSVP here.

Love, Blends & Bid Whist at Inglewood’s Sip & Sonder is our chance to center one of the Black community’s most storied card games.

Hosted by the brilliant Yazmin Monét Watkins, Dec. 13th finds us bringing together seasoned Bid Whist players and curious first-timers for our once-a-month gatherings filled with strategy, laughter, and connection.

In our mission to create “hush harbors” for us, we will honor “The Father of Spades,” and observe a game with deep roots in our culture at one of the most beloved coffee houses in the city.

#AllPlayersWelcome to pull up and play at this free event at 108 S. Market St.

Love, Peace & Spades™ is a community of creatives, professionals, and grassroots organizers who curate free, donation-based game experiences to honor, celebrate, and cherish our Black family heirlooms (e.g. Uno, Bid Whist, Tunk (or Tonk), Dominoes, and, of course, Spades).

In addition to gameplay, we offer pop-up experiences, skills-based education, tech/VR integration, a comprehensive directory of Black-owned businesses, game developers, and makers, plus an annual Spades tournament and festival for enthusiastic players.

About Us

🖤✌🏽♠️

Our mission is to curate Love, Peace & Spades™ as a modern-day “hush harbor,” a protected space created by and for Black people where we can promote intergenerational communion through music, tech, education, and play.

Love, Peace & Spades™ events and programming address social isolation and trauma commonly associated with past gaming experiences by reestablishing new and healthier relationships to gameplay through ‘Spades Academy,™ a curriculum-based activation for players to develop skills and strategies.

In the span of two years, our organization has managed to curate safe and inclusive spaces for over 8,000 individuals throughout the Los Angeles area to meet and connect with one another from across the table. We celebrated these strides towards community wellness through events and original programming.
