Love, Peace & Spades:

A Rather Fly Game Night

Spring is here—and Love, Peace & Spades will be at the Obama Sports Complex (5001 Obama Blvd.) for a full afternoon of open play, drop-in Spades lessons, and competitive ranked play.

We will host a 16-player, double elimination Ranked Qualifier, where the last team standing takes home a physical prize and earns free entry into our next Ranked Spades Tournament.

Not competing? Don’t worry, come through anyway. Tables are open, Spades Academy coaches will be on deck, and the KJLH Spring Fest vibes are in full effect.

Register is live here.

On April 4th, we’ll also set aside time to do what we don’t do enough—stop, congratulate, and honor the Black women who hold our community together.

Our 4th Annual BLK WMNS Appreciation Game Night brings leaders, creatives, mothers, and mentors to the legendary Earle’s on Crenshaw for open play, Spades Academy lessons in less than 10 minutes, and an afternoon of recognition and connection.

Hosted within Prosperity Market’s first mobile farmers market launch of the year, alongside Ambitious Women of Color and Jennie Wright of Co-Host Supper Club, this gathering is free and open to all.

RSVP here to join in the festivities.

Spring is here—and Love, Peace & Spades is back at Our House for an evening of coached lessons, open play, and the kind of learning that doesn’t feel like school.

We’re back on Wednesday, April 15th with three coaches ready to teach you everything the card table never told you. Whether you’ve never touched a deck or you’ve been faking it at the family reunion for years—this room was built for you.

Coach Mark Ridgill brings effortless cool to Spades and Tunk. Coach Angelica Robinson brings no-filter clarity to Bid Whist. Coach KP brings down-home Mississippi warmth to Dominoes—making its debut at Our House this month.

Not ready to learn? Come play anyway.

Love, Peace & Spades™ is a community of creatives, professionals, and grassroots organizers who curate free, donation-based game experiences to honor, celebrate, and cherish our Black family heirlooms (e.g. Uno, Bid Whist, Tunk (or Tonk), Dominoes, and, of course, Spades).

In addition to gameplay, we offer pop-up experiences, skills-based education, tech/VR integration, a comprehensive directory of Black-owned businesses, game developers, and makers, plus an annual Spades tournament and festival for enthusiastic players.
