On Oct. 21st, Spades Academy by Love, Peace & Spades at Our House brings together seasoned experts and coaches, curious first-timers, and players looking to rebuild their skills for our once-a-month gatherings filled with strategy, laughter, and connection. 

From Bid Whist to Tunk/Tonk to Dominoes to Spades, these games have deep roots in our culture and have long been a key ingredient for fellowship and generational exchange. 

What to expect when you attend: Play & Learn: Tables for both experienced card game players and those eager to learn the ropes. Culture & Community: A warm, inclusive “hush harbor that celebrates the heritage of our play traditions.

Wine & Food Vibes: South LA Wine Club’s curated wines will be available for pour, while Chef Binta’s WithBEE, Afro-Caribbean cuisine, will serve lite bites throughout the night.

November is National Family Caregivers Month, and we’re closing out 2026 the way we always do: honest conversation mixed with connected play.

Talk + Play: Dealing With Care is our final Talk + Play of the year, presented with AARP Los Angeles. Host Jacquelyn Revere, founder of Mom of My Mom and The Care Den, leads an honest conversation with Ty Lewis, Certified Dementia Practitioner and founder of In Case I Forget, LLC, alongside representatives from AARP.

Together they’ll cover who’s doing the caregiving in our community, what it costs us, the resources that exist, and why our families need to start this conversation now. After the panel, stay for open play and Spades Academy. #AllPlayersWelcome.
